운전면허를 이떻게 취득했는지 이야기해 주세요.

To get my driver’s license, first I had to prep for a written exam. I studied traffic laws, and figured out the meaning of various road signs and lanes. I also learned how to follow traffic signals, and the proper way to drive in various situations. After studying, I took the test and I aced it. Then I went to a driving school to prep for the road test. I failed once, but I passed on my second try.

운전면허를 취득하기 위해서 나는 우선 필기시험을 준비해야 했다. 도로 교통법을 공부하고, 각총 도로 표지판과 차선의 의미를 파악했다. 또한 교통 신호를 지키는 법과 다양한 상황에서 어떻게 하는 것이 올바른 운전 방법인지를 숙지했다. 이렇게 공부를 하고 나서, 필기시험을 치르고 높은 성적으로 합격했다. 그러고 나서 도로 주행 시험 준비를 위해 운전 학원을 다녔다. 주행 시험은 한 번 떨어졌는데 재응시해서 합격했다.

When I first got my driver’s license, I wasn’t a good driver. Changing lanes was a tall order. Sometimes, I got flustered because I couldn’t make sense of the road signs. I got even worse when other drivers honked at me. But as time passed, I got the hang of driving. It became second nature to me. I learned how to use the rearview mirror and wing mirrors to keep an eye on other cars while I drive, I became accustomed to the size of my car, so I can park more easily, too.

운전면허를 처음 취득했을 때는 운전이 서툴렀다. 차선을 바꾸는 것도 쉽지 않았고, 도로 표지판을 보고 어떻게 해야 할지 몰라서 당황하는 경우도 많았다. 다른 운전자들이 경적을 울리면 더욱 당황했다. 그러나 시간이 지나면서 운전에 익숙해졌다. 백미러와 사이드 미러를 이용해서 다른 차들의 동태를 예의 주시하며 운전할 수 있게 되었다. 내 차의 크기에 익숙해지면서 주차도 더 쉽게 할 수 있게 되었다.
