The shows I like to watch most are news programs. When I get home and have dinner, I often switch to the news. I can learn about events that are hot topics, and about goings-on in other countries. I also like to watch cooking shows. I especially like shows where famous chefs compete head-to-head. I also like cooking shows that teach recipes that are easy to follow, even for ordinary people. When I get a chance, I sometimes try out the recipes for myself.

내가 가장 즐겨 보는 방송은 뉴스다. 집에 와서 저녁 식사를 할 때 뉴스를 틀어 놓고 먹는 경우 가 많다. 세간에 화제가 되고 있는 사건들에 대해 알 수 있고, 해외에서 일어나는 소식들도 접할 수 있다. 그 밖에도 내가 즐겨 보는 방송은 요리 프로그램이다. 특히 유명 요리사들이 나와 대결을 벌이는 프로그램을 좋아한다，일반인도 쉽게 따라 할 수 있는 요리법을 알려 주는 요리 프로그램도 즐겨 본다. 기회가 되면 직접 그 음식을 해 볼 때도 있다.

There are a host of entertainment programs in Korea. In the past, talk shows and variety shows that lean heavily on a few star emcees were popular. But nowadays, observational entertainment is the hot ticket. In this format, the day-to-day activities of the cast are filmed. Then, a host and a panel of guests pore over the video and discuss it. Unlike earlier programs that followed a script, these programs provide fun by letting viewers identify with the cast.
[해석]
한국에는 다양한 예능 프로그램이 있다. 예전에는 몇몇 스타 진행자에 크게 의존하는 토크 쇼나 버라이어티 쇼가 대세였다. 그러나 요즘에 가장 유행하는 방송은 관찰 예능이다. 관찰 예능에서는 출연자의 평소 생활하는 모습을 촬영한 뒤, 그 촬영된 영상을 진행자와 게스트 패널이 함께 면밀히 보며 대화를 나눈다. 각본대로 진행되던 예전 프로그램들과는 달리, 시청자들이 출연자와 공감대를 형성하게 해 줌으로써 재미를 느끼게 한다.
